Life Hack – Stop water from boiling over the top of the stove.

Time for another useful life hack in our series of winter tips and craft projects.

Have you ever wondered why your gran always had a wooden spoon on top of a pot when water was boiling?

It’s because she knows that leaving a wooden spoon on top of a pot of boiling water can stop the bubbly mess of pasta, rice or potato water boiling over the top of the pot and creating a great big mess on the top of the stove. It does this by breaking the surface tension of the steam bubbles causing the liquid to fall back into the pot.
