Meet Em – Loan Admin Trainer

Em brings resilience, growth and a strong team mindset to his role as Loan Admin Trainer at Peasy. His journey to the business began during the early days of the pandemic. He was working for a BPO company in Manila supporting Australian clients when nationwide lockdowns were introduced. As uncertainty increased, their client eventually withdrew and Em was laid off.

Rather than dwell on the setback, he immediately began searching for new opportunities. In late April, he came across a Loan Processor role and applied. After several interviews, and even purchasing a laptop to complete the required assessments, he received the job offer.

“In many ways, joining Peasy came at exactly the right time,” he reflects. “What started as a difficult situation turned into an opportunity to grow and build something meaningful.”

Em began at Peasy as an Application Specialist, working first with supporting documents. This gave him a strong foundation and a clear understanding of the broader loan process. He later trained in application preparation and submission and spent nearly a year developing his skills in that role.

When the opportunity arose to step into an RA position, Em challenged himself to take it on. Not long after, during Amanda’s maternity leave, he was offered the newly created RMA role. Over four years, he managed applications from submission through to settlement, worked closely with lenders, handled complex scenarios and built strong client relationships.

“Seeing clients purchase their homes or relieve financial pressure through refinancing is incredibly rewarding,” he says.

In 2025, Em stepped into the Loan Admin Trainer role, where he now shares his knowledge and supports the development of the wider team. While he describes himself as still learning in this new chapter, he is excited to contribute in a different way and help others grow.

Looking back, Em describes his time at Peasy as deeply fulfilling, both professionally and personally. He remains grateful for the opportunities he has been given and the people he has worked alongside.

Outside of work, Em is currently working toward a personal milestone of his own. He is saving to purchase a home and hopes to find a place close to his family.

He enjoys reading and is already on his seventh book this year, currently reading The Silent Patient. Volleyball has long been an interest of his, and although he did not play competitively in school, he enjoys following and supporting his favourite university team in the Philippines.

More recently, Em discovered a love for digital art. After hesitating for a year, he finally purchased Procreate and began experimenting. He enjoys creating wallpapers and patterns while continuing to learn through tutorials.

A long time K Pop fan since 2009, Em also enjoys rewatching favourite series like Grey’s Anatomy and Pose. One of his simple pleasures is fortnightly grocery shopping. He finds something oddly satisfying about neatly stacking items in his cart.

What Em values most about Peasy is the culture of collaboration.

“In almost six years here, I have never felt alone. If I ever feel overwhelmed, I know I can reach out to anyone. People are always willing to help, whether it is a simple question or a complex challenge.”

His first week at Peasy left a strong impression. He was struck by how directly Joel and Amanda connected with the Philippine team. In previous roles, communication with Australian counterparts was usually filtered through managers. At Peasy, he felt included from the beginning.

One of his biggest surprises has been the opportunities, including trips to Australia. On his first visit, he stayed for 28 days. For someone who never imagined travelling there, it felt like a dream come true.

He also credits much of his professional growth to the Relationship Managers he has worked closely with, including Amanda, Pri, and Vera.
